Privacy Policy
Your privacy is fundamental to how SonicLab is built. This policy explains exactly what data we collect and — more importantly — what we don't.
Last updated: April 29, 2026
1. Overview
SonicLab ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website soniclab.io and its associated audio processing tools. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our services.
By using SonicLab, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please discontinue use of the site.
2. Audio File Processing
This is the most important section of our privacy policy.
SonicLab processes all audio files entirely within your web browser using the Web Audio API. This means:
- Your audio files are never uploaded to our servers
- We cannot access, view, listen to, or store any audio you process
- All processing (effects, encoding, format conversion) happens client-side on your device
- Processed files are generated in your browser and downloaded directly to your device
- When you close or refresh the page, all audio data is permanently cleared from memory
We have no technical capability to intercept, access, or recover audio files processed through SonicLab. This is an architectural decision, not a policy choice.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Automatically Collected Data
When you visit SonicLab, we may automatically collect:
- Page views and navigation patterns (via Vercel Analytics)
- Browser type and version
- Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- Approximate geographic region (country-level, from IP)
- Referring URL
This data is aggregated and anonymized. We do not track individual users across sessions or build personal profiles.
3.2 Data We Do NOT Collect
- Audio files or processed output
- Personal names or addresses
- Email addresses (unless you contact us voluntarily)
- Payment information (all tools are currently free)
- Keyboard or mouse activity tracking
- Audio content analysis or fingerprinting
4. Cookies and Tracking
SonicLab uses minimal cookies necessary for site functionality:
- Analytics cookies: Vercel Analytics uses privacy-focused, cookie-less analytics. No personal data is stored in cookies.
- Functional cookies: We may store user preferences (e.g., theme selection) in localStorage, which never leaves your device.
We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, or third-party trackers such as Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel.
5. Third-Party Services
SonicLab uses the following third-party services:
- Vercel: Hosting and deployment (privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy)
- Google Fonts: Typography delivery (fonts are loaded from Google's CDN)
We do not integrate with social media platforms, advertising networks, or data brokers.
6. Data Retention
Since audio files are processed client-side and never reach our servers, there is no audio data to retain or delete. Anonymized analytics data is retained for up to 12 months for product improvement purposes.
If you contact us via email, we retain correspondence for the purpose of providing support and may delete it upon request.
7. Children's Privacy
SonicLab is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us for removal.
8. Security
SonicLab is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption. Since we do not store user files or personal data on our servers, the attack surface for data breaches is inherently minimal. Our architecture eliminates the most significant privacy risk — server-side file storage.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access any personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Object to processing of your data
- Request data portability
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@soniclab.io. Since we collect minimal data, most requests can be resolved immediately.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of SonicLab after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
